The international LTE variant of the Samsung (KRX:005935) Galaxy S4 with the model number GT-I9505 recently received the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware update. Users who have already updated their Galaxy S4 handsets to the new I9505XXUFNA1 build can now root their devices, which will allow them to install custom ROMs whenever they are available.
Android hacker Chainfire has come up with an Auto-Root package complete with a SuperSU fix, which addresses the issues that some users had reported with the leaked KitKat firmware build for the Galaxy S4. Here is how to use the Auto-Root package to gain root access on the Galaxy S4 GT-I9505.
Rooting a device allows users to have complete access to the device’s hardware resources and push the limitations that come with the stock firmware. Users should note that rooting the Galaxy S4 LTE GT-I9505 on Android 4.4.2 KitKat XXUFNA1 will void the device’s warranty. But, users can reclaim the warranty by re-installing the official firmware update again.
Vital Points To Remember
- The tutorial is only for the Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 (Qualcomm Snapdragon Quad-Core CPU with LTE).
- Users are recommended to back-up all data before rooting the device.
- The device should have at least an 80 percent charge left on the battery.
- USB drivers must be installed in the computer with USB Debugging enabled on the device to transfer files between the phone and the PC.
